The Qur'an is the word of God and an eternal miracle that has been an inspiration to followers of truth for many centuries. Since the revelation of this divine miracle, numerous thinkers and scholars have sought to understand it and have had many successes along this path. 
With the expansion of human knowledge, the understanding of the various dimensions of the Qur'an as a human guidebook has deepened and expanded. Currently, a great many research centers all over the world are active in the field of Qur'anic studies, but unfortunately, the study of Quran with an interdisciplinary approach has received less attention.
Shahid Beheshti University is a comprehensive university that provides a huge variety of different fields, so it is an appropriate option to establish a research institute where scientists from different disciplines can research on diverse aspects of the Qur'an with an interdisciplinary approach. Accordingly, the high scientific potential of Shahid Beheshti University led the board of directors of this university to put the plan of setting up a research center for interdisciplinary studies of the Qur'an on its agenda.
The permission to establish the Research Institute of Interdisciplinary Quranic Studies (Miracles of the Qur'an) was obtained from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, On September 14, 2007.
