Educational Fields

The Research Institute has started educating students in the field of computational Quran mining at the master's level, since 2016. In order to be accepted in this field, students must participate in computer field, in the master's exam. In addition, since 2018, the admission of students has begun in the field of Qur'anic studies (Miracles of the Qur'an subdiscipline), at the master's level. To be accepted in this field, students must participate in the field of Quran and Hadith sciences, in the master's exam. In the following, we will introduce these two fields.

Computational Qur'an Mining

Today, with the increasing clarification of the new meanings of the Quran and the presentation of intelligent methods based on text mining and pattern recognition, it is necessary to establish a discipline that responds to the need for understanding the order of the Qur'an and the relationships between words and their concepts by using these new methods.
Computational Quran mining is a field that discusses the exploration, extraction and processing of Quranic words and concepts and the relationships between them using methods and algorithms of data mining, cryptography, pattern recognition, etc. The field was established by the research institute, for the first time and there is the possibility of accepting foreign students in it. According to the areas covered by this discipline in the automatic processing of the Qur'an, such as text mining, data mining, text pattern extraction, encryption, etc., it seems that the term "Qur'an mining" is comprehensive for all these specialized grounds. On the other hand, since the means of performing these automatic processes are generally computer tools, the term computational also conveys this purpose well.
In recent years, disciplines such as computational linguistics and Arabic natural language processing have expanded in many leading universities in the world such as Stanford and Columbia. Considering that the Arabic language is one of the most complex and eloquent languages in the world, and the growing need of Islamic research centers to expand the field of computational Quran mining, and its interdisciplinary nature, the establishment of master's courses in this field in qualified universities seems absolutely necessary. On the other hand, to use new methods in conveying concepts in languages close to Arabic, such as Persian, we can also take help from the methods proposed in this field.

Qur'anic studies (Miracles of the Qur'an subdiscipline)

Today, with the significant progress of experimental sciences and contemporary human's belief in the effects of technology in providing the well-being of life in most societies, religion has been pushed from the social scene to the margins of individual life. While according to the belief that led to the formation of the Islamic Republic in Iran, the Quran is a book revealed from the source of divine knowledge and has a plan for all individual and social needs of human.
In order to apply the Qur'an to meet human needs, we are faced with two problems that need to be solved in a scientific way: the first, proving the authenticity and divine nature of the book using the language of science, and the second, extracting the answers to contemporary human problems from the Qur'an.
Along with the scientific progress, the ways of proving the authenticity of the Qur'an have been developed and the scientific aspect of the book has been taken into consideration. Thus, it seems necessary to examine the scientific verses of the Qur'an in a principled way and criticize non-principled claims in order to defend the divine position of the book and promote it among truth seekers. Graduates of the field of Quranic studies (Miracles of the Qur'an sub discipline) will acquire the necessary skills to research in the above two issues in a principled way.
